THUNDER

The Nevada County Thunder are NCGSA's Select teams for the 10U, 12U, and 14U age groups. Through the USA Softball Select (B-Ball) program, Thunder players compete in sanctioned tournaments against top recreational-league teams across the Sacramento area. Thunder is a step up from Spring Rec, built for players who want more competition, more practice, and a bigger commitment to the game.

Level of Play

Thunder is a more competitive program than the spring recreation season. Girls will be given the opportunity develop as players in team-first environment where coaches decide playing time both based on skill, effort, attendance, and what the team needs.

Commitment

• Non-game weeks: 3 practices per week, starting January 1st
• Tournament weeks: 2-3 practices per week
• Tournaments: Saturday and Sunday tournaments from February through late June or early July (exact dates are set once tournament schedules are released).



Teams typically play at least 30 games over the season, plus scrimmages. Attendance matters. Before trying out, families should think through other sports, school activities, and travel plans from February into early July.

Cost

$1,150 per player for the season, in four monthly installments December through March. This covers:

• Jerseys
• All tournament entry fees
• Practice fields

Teams will also hold fundraisers during the season to pay for helmets and team bags. Each family pays its own tournament travel costs, such as gas, food, and any hotel stays. A $42 monthly membership to Home Base during the rainy season will also be the family's responsibility.

Ready to join the Thunder?

1. Submit the Player Intentions Form.
2. Attend tryouts on Sunday, November 15, at Memorial Park in Grass Valley. See schedule below.
3. Attend the parent info meeting (required). At least one parent or guardian of each player must attend the meeting for their player's age group. Coaches for that age group and NCGSA board members will cover what a Thunder season involves. Players warm up during the meeting, so they should arrive dressed and ready to play.
4. Watch for team announcements the week of November 16.
